True, it was that, but the story contained a depth that I wasn't expecting. It was a pleasant surprise. Rose and McQuade were well suited for one another even though they were seemingly worlds apart. The secondary story about the lion shifters and Rose's sister Alice-hated her-provided some grit to the story and kept it from being syrupy sweet.

I love how big, strong, gorgeous McQuade was felled by little, sweet Rose. There were two tiny elements that kept this story from being a solid four stars.

The first was Rose's constant belittlement of herself. It was bad enough when Alice did it. The second element is that the character development was minimal. I would have enjoyed knowing more about the situation with his parents and former pack and how he arrived where he was.
