Early detection
When wandering around in the world or towns, use the following trick to get an early heads up on enemies, encounters, or learn who is nearby. Keep tapping [V.A.T.S.] while searching at all angles. If there is something out there, you will get the V.A.T.S. zoom in with a low score. You will at least know what is there and can figure out a plan of attack or how best to sneak around it.

V.A.T.S. Spotting:
If you&8217;re heading into seemingly-hostile territory or simply want to survey the area around you for enemies you might not yet see, try hitting the VATS button over and over again as you make your character turn around, searching all angles. Doing so will alert you to any enemies you may not yet see by zooming in on them in VATS mode. You&8217;ll realistically be unable to do damage to your foes from such a distance, but it&8217;s a good way to spot foes before they spot you so you know what you&8217;re getting yourself into before the crap hits the fan.

For this to work you need the “Puppies! ” perk, so once you get it here’s what you do. Go to vault 101 and kill dog meat, or, sometimes, there will be an outcast/enclave random encounter so let them do it. Then bring dogmeat (Note: Dogmeat’s body must be selected! ) back up to the vault entrance (Note: outside not in!

) and when dogmeats puppy arrives, with the selected corpse use the resurrect selected NPC code (press (tilde), then type resurrect), this will revive old dogmeat, who should still be following you (if not, just get him again) plus his puppy! So you can get both! You can do this repeatedly, with a regular follower, such as my preferred follower, FAWKES. 308 Caliber Round 0006B53C.
